Innovative research of plate and column ceiling in the emergency stage caused by the puncture and the influence of the ductility of the reinforcing steel on the behavior of such a system.

The bulletin details the reserach of the ceiling section in which the emergency condition was triggered by breaking the support zone. As a consequence of continuing the load in an emergency condition, the models were completely destroyed, which allowed observation of the structure's behavior and registration of deflections, scratches and boundary loads. The research models were armed with steel of different ductility, which allowed to estimate its impact on the destruction scheme.

In a special situation, in which the construction used concrete with low strength in relation to the designed, the concrete was freezing during the hardening period, the structure was too early used or there was a local explosion, the connection of the plate with the pole can be destroyed. In this case, the survival of the structure can be ensured by the reinforcement that crosses over the column, allowing the plate-pillar structure to transform into a tensile (membrane) structure.
