The selection of steel for the reinforcement of concrete bridge structures in Poland is often limited to determining the strength class A-IIIN, consistent with the "old" design standards, which are still widely used. Such a notation appears in the technical specifications for many bridge structures in Poland. There are also indications as to the type of steel, however, very often these are species currently no longer available on the market - although also in accordance with the provisions of the "old" standards. In the production of reinforcing steel, since the recent updates of PN-B and PN-S standards for structural design, a huge progress has been made, the market offer of steel mills is now significantly richer, and products of much higher quality. It is worth having a good understanding and knowing what parameters of steel, apart from tensile strength, should be paid attention to ensure maximum safety of the structure
