The study of the behavior of a small slab in an emergency situation presented in the bulletin No. 4 was an introductory character to a series of further studies on the situation of a progressive disaster. Its purpose was to observe a model of destruction of this type of system and was the basis for the development of a large plate research plan (the results of which were included in Bulletin No. 5 and 7).
The examples of huge construction disasters, that were the result of both intentional and unintentional activities, are the basis of research and analysis carried out all over the world on the behavior of structures in an emergency state - catastrophic. The results of these activities are to a large extent based on numerical simulations of objects that have been seriously damaged or completely collapsed. There is no information about the actual behavior of the structure during the course of the disaster development, which can be used to develop more consistent methods of constructing objects.
