The bulletin contains a description of testing stirrups made of high-ductility steel. In these stirrups, different shapes of hooks were used to check which one would be able to ensure maximum utilization of large load capacity of reinforcing steel and lead to breaking the rod, rather than breaking it out of the concrete.
It should be remembered that in the case of anchoring the stirrup in both standard and non-standard manner, one should always use longitudinal reinforcement placed near each of the bends of the rod in order to protect the element against splitting in the hook plane.
