The ductility of reinforcing steel is - apart from high tensile strength - its most important property, decisive for the steel grade in accordance with European design standards.
The publication prepared by the Steel Quality Promotion Center includes detailed characteristics of reinforcing steel with high ductility, explains the classification of steel according to "old" Polish standards and standards currently in use, and describes the tests to which steel bars are subjected.
Particular attention should be paid to the plasticity of components in the case of structures exposed to unforeseen loads such as impacts, earthquakes or sudden destruction during an explosion. In such constructions, it is desirable to have the safety of plastic construction.
